JV Field Hockey
JV Field Hockey Fall 2021-2022 Try-Outs 2021.
Try–out Information: Tryouts will be from Aug 2-4, 2021. (Teams will most likely be decided by Aug 2, however, coaches will take longer if needed.) Click on team files to get the updated try-out and practice times. (not yet available)
Expect there to be a scrimmage the second and third week of August. Varsity will play in Tournament Friday and Saturday, Aug 27 and 28. Varsity will also practice some Saturdays, especially before a Monday game, as well as holiday.
Try-outs will take place from 6-9 am and an evening session as well, most likely in the 6-8:30 time frame for 1 and 1/2 hours. Do your best to make all sessions.
Please note that practice times may be changed due to weather or other circumstances.
Where: Washington – Liberty HS. Meet on the turf. Please line up on cones for Covid check in upon arrival.
What you need: -A physical as of May 1st, 2021. There is now online registration.(NO ONE WILL BE ABLE TO TRY OUT WITHOUT AN UPDATED PYHSICAL) Forms are available via the W-L webpage: Athletic Clearance or in the Activities Office.PLEASE NOTE: Your completed physical form and permission to play form should be dropped off in the trainer's box (slot) in the Activities office (next to the AD's office) by July 30 so that it can be evaluated before the start date.(Make a copy of all forms)
Insurance information. (The school does offer health insurance. Please see Ms. Callaway.)
-You must have running shoes as well as field hockey gear. -You must have field hockey shin guards (soccer shin guards are ok for try-outs only) and a colored mouth guard (not clear or white) to participate.-Please bring plenty of water. Sticks are available. Players need several masks.
Expectations: Please try-out and always practice with game intensity. Go to the Team Files tab for the Information Sheet which needs to be filled out and emailed or brought to try-outs and for the rubric used at try-outs.
Returning players will be evaluated on:
Strength of pushes and drives, ability to make defensive stops and offensive moves, quickness and decision making, aggressiveness, agility and attitude.
New players will be taught the game and will be evaluated on athletic ability and attitude as well as ability to learn and apply new skills.
Try-outs will begin Monday, Aug 2. That is the beginning of the season. We start scrimmages shortly after. Please plan vacations before that date.
